“Disruption always follows intention.” — Myron Golden
January invites intention. Maybe you’ve set goals around movement, self-care, or simply showing up for yourself more consistently. Maybe you’re recommitting to your Pilates practice or maybe you’re starting fresh.
No matter what your intention is, here’s what I know to be true: disruption will show up. That’s not a failure. That’s life.
You might get sick. Your kids might get sick. Your pet might get sick. There could be a snow day, your car might not start, or you might wake up with a stiff neck after sleeping wrong. The list goes on.
These moments are inevitable, and they don’t mean you’ve failed at your Pilates practice or lost sight of your intention.
Instead of being caught off guard, I want you to expect disruption.
Not because you’re being pessimistic, but because you’re being realistic.
When you expect obstacles in your Pilates practice, you’re better equipped to respond with compassion rather than frustration.
Disruption can actually be a sign that you’re on the right path, that your intention simply requires discipline, patience, and adaptability.
Any seed faces adversity before it grows into something strong and beautiful. In Pilates, you may feel shaky before you feel strong. Progress often feels uncomfortable before it feels empowering.
This is all part of building a sustainable Pilates practice.
You’ve already done the hardest part: you decided to begin.
So when life gets in the way, try viewing those moments as opportunities to persevere rather than reasons to stop. Showing up might look different some days and that’s okay.
Consistency doesn’t mean perfection. It means continuing to return to yourself and your Pilates practice, again and again.
You’re not doing this alone. I’m here for you, and so is the entire team at Orofino Wellness.
We believe in your ability to stay committed to your Pilates practice even when things feel messy, disrupted, or imperfect.
