Consistency in Pilates & The Importance of Focus
You are either in a season of balance or you are in a season of focus.
I struggle with this.
For so long I spoke to myself about balance. About how it was important to find evenness between my work and home life. I struggled with whether I should be a stay-at-home mom or a working mom. I beat myself up about it for awhile before recognizing that my purpose involves raising my kids and building a business.
The Pressure to Do Everything
The truth is, we want to do it all. And even though we’ve heard that we can’t, we try anyway. And then we have the nerve to be upset with ourselves when we fail.
Learning to Focus on One Thing
So here’s what I’m trying these days: to just focus.
Focus on one thing at a time.
In a practical way, I’m using more time blocks to differentiate work from family time. I purchased a Brick Phone Lock Device to turn off all the things on my phone when it’s family time. (If you don’t know what I’m talking about, Brick is a device that you tap and it disables apps so that you can stay present.)
I’m also leaning into the fact that I’m obsessed with work.
Obsessed with Pilates.
Obsessed with building an amazing team.
Obsessed with building a big, beautiful community.
And I’m no longer ashamed of that. My boys are loved and they’re seeing a Mom who loves what she does.
What This Has to Do With Consistency in Pilates
So what the heck does any of this have to do with you?
Well… I was chatting with a client the other day and she was saying how Pilates at Orofino Wellness is the first exercise that she’s ever stuck to.
Not to say that Pilates is the only form of exercise or that you should only do Pilates. But if this is you too, it’s time to focus.
You Can’t Find Balance Without Consistency
You can’t find balance in your movement routine before you have a consistent movement routine.
You also can’t do every mode of exercise and be successful.
So stop trying to do everything and just focus on one thing for awhile. Get obsessed.
You won’t be an elite athlete, but you will be stronger and better for it because you will reap the benefits of what staying consistent at one thing can bring.
How Consistency in Pilates Creates Balance in Your Body
And ironically, if you focus, you’ll find balance in your body.
More evenness between the right and left sides of the body.
Better joint integrity.
Better posture and awareness throughout the day.
Sound good?
Great.
Let’s get focused together.
